Generous is one of those wonderfully simple concepts that can easily expand out in numerous directions. Born in 2004, the site is the home for a dispersed community committed to improving the world through small acts of generosity, and hoping to receive encouragement from seeing others doing likewise and sharing experiences.
Having been members from the beginning we came in during the autumn of 2007 to help reinvigorate the site. Having devised the idea of selling "white label" versions of the site into other organisations as a means of measuring employee and member mobilisation around corporate social responsibility, we rebuilt the site as a Ruby on Rails application designed from the ground up to support numerous independently branded sites within a single application.
We're now involved on a regular basis, working with the rest of the Generous team to plan strategy for promotion, engagement and ongoing development. We manage the server infrastructure and are constantly working on a range of new features for the site, with a current focus on doing more to draw out and consolidate the combined wisdom and experience of the site's members.
