CMS management and development, and ongoing assistance with web strategy and live reporting.

Greenbelt was probably the first arts festival in the UK to set up a website. That early-adoption reflects the pioneering spirit of the festival and its penchant for trying things out. While initially the site was managed by a volunteer, the festival management decided in the late-90s to place a greater emphasis on the site and that is where Ket Lai founder James Stewart was brought on board as part of a team to help redevelop the site from the ground-up.
Over the years the site has had numerous face-lifts and overhauls as we gradually moved legacy data into a content management system for easy updates and increased flexibility, and rebuilt that CMS to reflect the changing nature of the site. We have been responsible for design of the lineup management system, maintaining and adapting the CMS, handling the production of a number of email newsletters, developing a 'talks search' system (which allows visitors to search through an extensive database of talks recorded at the festival), and numerous other features. The e-commerce side of the site (allowing purchase of festival tickets, recordings and other merchandise) is managed by our friends at Edge Of My Seat, and we work with them to connect the two sites using a series of APIs.
We have also spearheaded a number of efforts to deepen the festival's engagement with the wider web. Following our efforts, the festival has consistently been one of the biggest "tags" on the flickr photo sharing site in the week following the event, and we've gradually seen more and more content seep out through all manner of social media outlets. We run the festival's twitter account which has proven a very popular connection point for people seeking to connect with the event and its many associated artists and topics through the year.
